Content Description

Doctor George McClary photographed Sonoma County fire departments in action, this collection is comprised of those photographs in 4 large photo albums compiled within the following dates, 1970-1975, 1975-1983, 1983-1990, 1990-1996. The photographs are clearly taken from the vantage point of where the firefighters were stationed to fight the fires, sometimes merely feet away from them. The detailed labels include dates, few addresses, in some instances the firefighters are named, and estimated cost of damages or fatalities. Includes a copy of The Historian, 2011, #3 published by the Sonoma County Historical Society, which includes an article about Doctor McClary and his photography ventures alongside the fire department titled, "A Four Alarm Fire Hero."
